About the position

The Sr. Consultant - Network is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for managing and optimizing Kinetic's dark fiber, conduit, and infrastructure assets. This role requires strong technical knowledge of fiber characteristics, deployment, and maintenance, along with vendor management and contract negotiation skills. The consultant will ensure that acquired fiber meets the specifications necessary for transport, IP, and voice systems, contributing to the overall mission of delivering reliable internet solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead lease/IRU renewal evaluation efforts coordinating with peer groups for network/customer needs.
  • Create and negotiate partnership business models for fiber/network swap opportunities.
  • Work across multiple lines of business to assess technical inputs for fiber acquisition, renewal, or replacement.
  • Develop project scope, budget, and business cases for dark fiber routes.
  • Provide status reporting on project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues.
  • Interface with fiber providers to negotiate price and terms, conduct contract analysis, and execute agreements.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships.
  • Establish practices, templates, policies, and tools to enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Support contract analysis and negotiation for new dark fiber agreements.
  • Track cost savings for acquisition, renewals, and terminations of dark fiber IRU/leases.
  • Create Service Orders and contracts for new IRUs and leases.
  • Support OSP construction teams for dark fiber sales implementation.
  • Drive enhancements to standard contract templates.
  • Attend trade shows as needed.

Requirements

  • College degree in Engineering or a related field and 8+ years of professional experience; or 12+ years of professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of Telecom infrastructure including real estate facilities, ISP, OPS, optical/TDM transport networks, and fiber architectures.
  • Experience engaging with engineers to assess equipment needs related to fiber and translating requirements to fiber providers.
  • Ability to compare vendor submissions to assess financial impacts and create substantiated business cases.
  • Experience driving strategies for expense reductions while improving network infrastructure.

  • Highly analytical with the ability to manage large, complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • Familiarity with mapping, database, and billing systems.
