About the position

The Sr Contracts Analyst at PSEG is responsible for providing consultative technical, analytical, and functional support in contract management for various operational processes within the Long Island T&D Operations Organization. This role involves managing contractor activities, participating in procurement processes, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications while monitoring project progress and financials.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, schedule, monitor, and bill contractor activities in assigned areas.
  • Develop specifications, bid documents, and strategies for contractors with project teams.
  • Participate in contractor procurement processes, including pre-bid site visits and proposal reviews.
  • Assist in defining the scope of work and assessing qualifications of bidding candidates in RFPs.
  • Provide contract interpretation to contractors and review contractor work progress for invoice processing.
  • Monitor spending against purchase orders and signal the need for increases to project managers.
  • Maintain a Change Order Log for unforeseen changes and ensure timely documentation submission.
  • Assist with invoice validation for payments and review contractor invoices for accuracy.
  • Monitor contractor performance and resolve billing disputes.
  • Review contractor documentation for extra work and claims negotiation.
  • Develop cash flow projections for projects based on contract purchase orders and schedules.
  • Provide monthly forecasts for projects and update accruals based on invoicing and progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience with utility or construction contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Project) and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Ariba, Catalyst).
  • Knowledge of fact-finding and data presentation.
  • Experience using project/contract management systems for data analysis.
  • Strong administrative skills for monitoring contractor progress and cost control.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and personal accountability.
  • Detail-oriented approach.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Contract Professional Manager (CCPM) or Project Management Certification (PMP).
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience with project management documentation management software.
