About the position

The CASE Vehicle Network Controls Test Engineer III role at American Honda Motor Co. is pivotal in advancing Honda's Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric (CASE) initiatives. This position is designed for an experienced engineer who can lead the development of Vehicle Network (VN) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) systems with minimal oversight. The engineer will leverage their expertise to tackle challenges of moderate complexity, focusing on various ECUs that manage vehicle functions and CAN & Ethernet network management. Responsibilities include the development, integration, and testing of embedded software for VN ECUs, as well as overseeing functionalities related to Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates and cybersecurity measures. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for project and team management, which involves breaking down project concepts into actionable development activities and coordinating with key stakeholders to negotiate schedules for deliverables. The engineer will also design engineering specifications for VN ECU integration applications, utilizing tools such as MATLAB Simulink or MS VISIO. This includes converting design concepts into functional specifications and conducting design reviews with technical leadership. The engineer may lead other engineers on complex project implementations and best practices. Troubleshooting and root cause analysis are critical components of this role, as the engineer will work hands-on in both prototype and mass production vehicles to identify and resolve VN ECU or communication network issues. Testing and verification of VN ECU specifications related to hardware and software will also be a key responsibility, ensuring that all systems meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards and perform reliably. The engineer will be accountable for creating test result reports and conducting verification reviews with technical leadership. Additionally, the engineer may lead small groups in investigating new processes or technologies to enhance communication network system performance and development efficiency. This includes making project proposals to management and reporting on technical activities, budgets, and schedules. Collaboration with cybersecurity specialists will be essential to analyze and verify security requirements for VN ECU applications. Overall, this position is integral to Honda's mission of innovation and sustainability, contributing to the development of technologies that promote the joy and freedom of mobility while striving for a zero environmental footprint.
