About the position

We are hiring a Contract Senior Copywriter to join 23andMe's internal creative team. In this role, you'll create custom campaigns for a range of 23andMe products, translating your passion for innovation to inspire others towards action. As an expert in your craft, you will be comfortable ideating and writing in multiple formats: from creative ideation to brand storytelling, across a variety of media: from email to video. Most of all, you are someone that is interested in a role that is mission-driven and you love the idea that, at the core of your work, you are helping people. You are helping them to better understand where they come from, and potentially helping them lead healthier lives.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling and innovative copy for different consumer media, including display advertising, radio ads, email communications, social media, affiliate communication, video content and event materials.
  • Help explore and ultimately define the brand voice as an important part of our brand style guide.
  • Deliver the brand voice throughout all communications materials.
  • Craft site copy for 23andMe.com including updates, new content, new features, and test scenarios.
  • Understand and clearly articulate our positioning, products, and services.
  • Proof, edit, and rewrite marketing materials driving brand style and tone consistency.
  • Be responsible for the quality and accuracy of all communication pieces.
  • Partner with other departments to write marketing materials that target audiences such as healthcare providers, academics, and the scientific community.

Requirements

  • A copywriting portfolio highlighting your best work, across a range of media channels.
  • 7-10 years work experience as a copywriter at a reputable ad agency or in-house at a consumer brand.
  • A digital native with an extensive understanding of writing for the web, including best practices, SEO requirements, and usability.
  • Talent for writing engaging and concise copy that is consumer-facing within a relevant category.
  • Experience concepting innovative creative, and working closely with an art director or designer to bring it to life.
  • Attention to detail and a rigorous approach to the process.
  • Ability to advocate for your ideas along with the ability to work in a team and incorporate feedback from a variety of stakeholders.
  • BA/BS or equivalent.
