About the position

The Sr. Credit Analyst for Affordable Housing at Western Alliance Bank plays a crucial role in the analysis, structuring, underwriting, and closing of major and complex commercial loans. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures while working closely with the Relationship Manager to manage loans effectively. The Sr. Credit Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and identifying credit risks, thereby contributing to the attainment of established Bank, region, and branch goals. This role requires active participation in underwriting and closing desirable credits alongside the Relationship Manager, ensuring that all processes align with the Bank's standards and regulatory requirements. In this position, the Sr. Credit Analyst will develop new client relationships and maintain existing ones, ensuring a timely credit process from initiation to completion. The role involves interfacing with clients through various communication channels to assess their credit needs and determine the best financing structure. The analyst will gather and analyze necessary information to present financing requests to senior management or the Loan Committee for approval. Additionally, the position entails coordinating the processing of approved loans, ensuring compliance with agreements, and addressing any issues that arise during the loan servicing process. The Sr. Credit Analyst is expected to exemplify superior customer service and follow through with customers and employees involved in the loan process. This role also includes various underwriting, portfolio management, and maintenance tasks related to new loan requests and the existing portfolio managed by the Relationship Manager. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional credit knowledge, and the ability to juggle multiple credit requests simultaneously, all while maintaining a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and coordinating the closing of major and complex commercial loans.
  • Work with the Relationship Manager to manage loans and monitor credit risks.
  • Develop new and maintain existing client relationships to ensure a timely credit process.
  • Interface with clients to assess their credit needs and determine the best financing structure.
  • Gather and analyze necessary information for financing requests to present to senior management or Loan Committee.
  • Coordinate the processing of approved loans and ensure compliance with Bank lending policies.
  • Reinforce superior customer service through follow-through with customers and employees.
  • Handle various underwriting, portfolio management, and upkeep tasks related to new loan requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
  • 1-3 years of commercial underwriting experience at a financial institution.
  • Exceptional credit knowledge and underwriting skills in Commercial Real Estate lending.
  • Advanced experience in financial statement and tax return analysis.
  • Strong portfolio management skills for timely identification of credit concerns.
  • Outstanding presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities to manage multiple credit requests.
