About the position
The Sr. Credit Analyst US position at Banco Popular involves underwriting new commercial requests and renewals, focusing on complex requests across various lines of business, including Commercial & Industrial, Multi-Family, and Commercial Real Estate. The role requires performing annual financial reviews of existing commercial relationships and ensuring compliance with the bank's lending policies.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and assess applicant financial status, strengths, credit, industry, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loans.
- Spread financials and perform projections and/or proformas as well as sensitivity analysis.
- Review and assess supporting reports related to transactions, such as appraisals, environmental inspections, field audits, and plan and cost reviews.
- Work with Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager to obtain necessary information and provide feedback on issues.
- Manage and prioritize multiple deals simultaneously to ensure a good client experience.
- Occasionally accompany Relationship Manager on joint calls.
- Make recommendations on credits to the appropriate lending authority.
- Use lending authority on credits underwritten by another Credit Analyst.
- Prescreen new deals and help train other credit analysts.
- Monitor and test loan covenants for existing credit relationships.
- Ensure all exceptions to the bank's lending policy are noted and proper approvals are obtained.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the bank's lending policy and interagency regulations.
- Maintain a good working relationship with the Line of Business.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year college.
- Five or more recent years of commercial credit underwriting experience within a bank.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
