About the position

The Sr. Custodian position at the University of California - San Francisco Campus and Health is a full-time role under the immediate supervision of the Sr. Custodian Supervisor, a Lead Custodian, or the Operations Manager. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in various areas of the hospital, ensuring compliance with infection control policies and established cleaning standards. This role involves a variety of tasks including the collection and disposal of solid waste and soiled linen, floor care, general cleaning, and managing supplies and equipment. The custodian will be expected to perform these duties efficiently while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a harmonious working relationship with hospital staff. The position requires the incumbent to collect and dispose of solid waste and soiled linen, which includes emptying waste receptacles, labeling and removing infectious waste, and transporting soiled linen. A significant portion of the job (30%) is dedicated to floor care, which involves sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and using various cleaning machines to maintain hard floors and carpets. The custodian will also be responsible for general cleaning tasks (50%), which include dusting and washing furniture, cleaning restrooms, and sanitizing various surfaces throughout the hospital. Additionally, the role includes requisitioning supplies and equipment, ensuring that cleaning materials are adequately stocked and properly labeled. The Sr. Custodian may also be assigned to other work areas as operational needs dictate and will be expected to respond to emergencies, following established procedures. Responsibilities
