About the position

BigBear.ai is seeking to hire a Sr. Cyber Security Engineer with 10-15 years of experience to join our Federal Solutions Center (FSC) team. The candidate will be an integral part of the FSC team, working on a variety of cybersecurity projects that include designing defensive cybersecurity solutions for space-based optical communications terminals and evaluating offensive cyber capabilities in our lab environment. This role requires a proactive approach to developing cybersecurity tools and capabilities that can be utilized within the FSC or productized for external sale. The Sr. Cyber Security Engineer will engage in comprehensive vulnerability research, conduct vulnerability assessments, perform penetration testing, and carry out design analysis. The candidate will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, which encompasses Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, and Maintenance for FSC products and services. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn and utilize various cybersecurity assessment tools, techniques, and processes applicable to a range of use cases and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design defensive cybersecurity solutions for space-based optical communications terminals.
  • Evaluate offensive cyber capabilities in a lab environment.
  • Develop cybersecurity tools and capabilities for internal use or external sale.
  • Perform vulnerability research and assessments.
  • Conduct penetration testing and design analysis.
  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle: Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, and Maintenance for FSC products and services.
  • Learn and use cybersecurity assessment tools and techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar degree.
  • 10-15 years of experience in cybersecurity.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Enthusiastic interest in technology and a desire to learn.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or Java.
  • Interest in computer hardware, microprocessors, and electronics.
  • General knowledge of IT infrastructure and computer networking.
  • Experience with embedded systems development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computer architecture.
  • Knowledge of operating system architectures.
  • Reverse Engineering experience with Ghidra or IDA Pro.
  • Experience with assembly languages (x86, ARM, PowerPC, MIPS).
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools such as those packaged in Kali Linux.
  • Space domain knowledge and experience.
  • Cybersecurity training or certifications.
