About the position

The Sr. Data Analyst position at CGI is a critical role that involves analyzing and documenting business requirements for complex mathematical, business, and financial modeling logic. The analyst will work in a fast-paced, agile environment, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that software applications meet business needs. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and requires strong technical skills in data analysis and software development lifecycles.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, document and articulate business requirements for complex mathematical, business, and financial modeling logic for software coding.
  • Design and execute test cases for modeling and analytical software applications to ensure they meet business needs and model requirements.
  • Develop detailed specifications of application and document in a form that it can be used for coding application, including architecture diagrams and process flows.
  • Collaborate with managers or practitioners in the business unit to determine systems requirements and functionalities needed in new or revised applications.
  • Extract data requirements through various methods including discussions, independent data analysis, and extracting from mathematical functions and code.
  • Confer with business units and technical staff to understand data usage, lineage, and attributes.
  • Develop test plans and/or test applications in development status or debug applications in production mode.
  • Document or review documentation of steps in specification development, coding, testing, and user acceptance for future reference.
  • Provide support to applications in production by tracking production problems and troubleshooting them.
  • Participate in project meetings to plan rewrites or additions to applications in production.
  • Mentor or provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Lead cross functions to ensure application enhancements quality meets expected business results.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge or experience in secondary mortgage, finance, or economics; multifamily data and business experience highly desired.
  • Technical skills: Oracle, stored procedures & advanced querying.
  • Advanced Oracle / SQL skills; ability to design Python scripts for data analysis.
  • Ability to perform existing code analysis in Java and Python.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix.
  • Strong data analysis skills to consolidate data sets and extract data.
  • Ability to document highly complex data processing.
  • Experience working with software developers in a medium to large organization following SDLC or Agile processes.
  • Experience supporting customer application development lifecycles (e.g., analysis, design, testing).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate abstract concepts and analysis results using creative visualizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player mentality.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop proficiency in new skills rapidly.
