About the position

The Sr Data Analyst role is focused on data transformation and reconciliation within the finance industry, particularly in a fintech environment. The position requires advanced skills in SQL and Python, along with a strong understanding of financial statements and general ledger data. The analyst will work with large datasets, providing insights and solutions to enhance financial reporting and data analysis processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform data transformation and reconciliation tasks.
• Utilize SQL for querying and displaying large datasets efficiently.
• Conduct analysis using Python to derive insights from financial data.
• Work with general ledgers and sub ledgers to ensure data accuracy.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications.
• Implement or modify financial systems or applications related to accounting functions.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver high-impact solutions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with data transformation and reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Excel and advanced querying experience with SQL.
• Experience in the finance industry, preferably in fintech.
• Familiarity with general ledgers and sub ledgers.
• Experience using Python for data analysis.
• Degree in accounting, quantitative finance, statistics, mathematics, economics, data analytics, or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in programming and data mining languages such as SQL, Python, or SAS.
• Experience working with large datasets and relational databases.
• Outstanding quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and writing skills.
• Ability to maximize performance of workbooks using SQL.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology in application development.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the mortgage industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with financial reporting concepts and data.
• Experience with implementing financial systems or applications.
