About The Position

The Sr. Data Analyst position is focused on enhancing data procedures and translating business needs into quantifiable metrics. The role involves creating dashboards and reports, evaluating system configurations, and ensuring data integrity through ongoing support and analysis. The analyst will work closely with stakeholders to communicate data insights effectively and will be responsible for managing small to medium-sized projects within a higher education setting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, Information Technology, or closely related field.
• Six years of prior relevant experience in a large, multi-user data environment, including responsibility for development of customized queries and reports.
• Advanced SQL skills including CTEs, window functions, and complex joins, as well as basic ETL functions.
• Ability to develop and execute queries and reports within a database including Redshift, Postgres, or related.
• Advanced data visualization skills in Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or related.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and Google Suite tools.

Nice To Haves

• Evidence of an advanced degree in Business Analytics, IT, or related field.
• Experience working in a higher education setting, preferably with higher education student data.
• Experience with Alteryx, evidence of certification is a plus.
• Skill managing small to medium-sized projects.
• Experience with Jira or related project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations for enhancements to current procedures, including assessments of effort, alternatives, and implications.
• Translate business and research needs into quantifiable metrics to create dashboards, reports, and technical solutions.
• Periodically review configuration for enhancement opportunities and provide ongoing support of data requirements.
• Evaluate the impact of implementing new enhancements and make recommendations regarding timing and implications.
• Identify key data elements, tables, fields, and properties affected to ensure ongoing data integrity.
• Review, update, and implement system administration procedures to ensure data integrity and security.
• Identify appropriate data sources to address stakeholder needs.
• Query, transform, and clean complex data; join data accurately across multiple data streams.
• Acquire, define, and interpret datasets from an enterprise data warehouse environment.
• Use quantitative skills to create informative reports and well-designed data visualizations.
• Communicate business data clearly and concisely to stakeholders in reports and dashboards.
