About the position

The Senior Data Architect will be responsible for developing and implementing data architecture, data models, and pipeline design to support our organization's data management needs. This role involves the design and implementation of key standardized and enriched data consumption models in the lake house architecture, development of robust data architecture solutions for customer data onboarding, ensuring data integrity, security, and privacy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data-driven decision-making across the organization. In this position, you will collaborate with the business, product, and engineering functions to develop a cohesive data architecture that adheres to data management best practices. You will also work on the development of a data platform strategy aimed at achieving a highly available, timely, and high-quality data onboarding process for the enterprise. Your responsibilities will include defining data architecture strategies aligned with the organization's goals, ensuring optimal data integration, management, and accessibility. You will be tasked with developing comprehensive data models, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries to support efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis. Additionally, you will establish data governance policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain data quality, privacy, and security, collaborating with compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry regulations and data protection standards. Leading data integration projects will be a key part of your role, ensuring seamless data migration between legacy systems and new platforms while maintaining data accuracy and consistency. Documentation and communication are crucial, as you will need to document data architecture designs, guidelines, and standards, and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Furthermore, you will provide guidance and mentorship to junior data professionals, supporting their professional growth and development within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the business, product and engineering functions to develop a cohesive data architecture, with data management best practices.

  • Define data architecture strategies aligned with the organization's goals, ensuring optimal data integration, management, and accessibility.
  • Develop comprehensive data models, data flow diagrams, and data dictionaries to support efficient data storage, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Establish data governance policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain data quality, privacy, and security.
  • Lead data integration projects, ensuring seamless data migration between legacy systems and new platforms while maintaining data accuracy and consistency.
  • Document data architecture designs, guidelines, and standards.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data professionals, supporting their professional growth and development.

Requirements

  • 20+ years' experience in software and data engineering
  • 10+ years of experience working with data platforms and management of healthcare data
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, X.12, ICD-10) and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture principles, data modeling, and data governance
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Scala, Databricks, and Azure data ecosystem technologies
  • Strong proficiency in highly scalable data integration techniques, data warehousing, and ETL processes
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data solutions and big data technologies
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with data visualization tools and technologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead cross-functional initiatives
  • Working experience in additional modern data technologies including Databricks Lakehouse/Delta lake, Airflow, DBT, FiveTran, Arceon, Snowflake a plus
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology or related engineering disciplines
  • Strong business and process knowledge, technology implementation, change management and large-scale program management
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams.
