The Sr. Data Architect at Intermountain Health is a pivotal role responsible for designing, creating, and managing the organization's data architecture. This position is essential for establishing a robust foundation for data management, ensuring that data is organized, accessible, secure, and aligned with the business objectives of the organization. The data architect will be tasked with designing data warehouses, file systems, and databases, while also defining how data will be collected and organized to meet the needs of the business. In this role, the data architect will interpret and deliver impactful strategic plans that enhance data integration, quality, and delivery in support of various business initiatives and roadmaps. The architect will design the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, warehouses, and lakes, and will select and implement database management systems that align with the organization's needs. This includes defining data schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and security measures. The Sr. Data Architect will also define and implement long-term technology strategies and innovation roadmaps across analytics, data engineering, and data platforms. They will design and implement processes for the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process from various sources into the organization's data systems, translating high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards. Additionally, the architect will manage senior business stakeholders to secure strong engagement and ensure that project delivery aligns with longer-term strategic roadmaps. They will simplify existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost-saving opportunities in line with company policies and standards. The role also involves leading and participating in peer reviews and quality assurance of project architectural artifacts across the Enterprise Architecture group through governance forums, defining and managing standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality, and collaborating with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand data consumers' needs and develop solutions. Finally, the architect will evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
