About the position

The Sr. Data Architect is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions that align with business needs. This role involves ensuring compliance with internal IT processes and security policies, collaborating with business data stewards, and providing documentation for architecture and technical details. The architect will also conduct code reviews, evaluate contractor work, and guide the selection of commercial data solutions, all while partnering with project and leadership teams to translate business requirements into technical designs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain data solutions based on business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal IT processes, security policies, and SOX information systems.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise data definitions and governance programs in partnership with data stewards.
  • Provide solution documentation covering architecture and technical details.
  • Perform code reviews of data solutions to ensure adherence to architectural and security standards.
  • Collaborate with project management and business teams to translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Evaluate contractor work production for compliance with quality and service standards.
  • Provide technical guidance on the selection of commercial data solutions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant Information Technology experience.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies.
  • Expert level experience with Server Integration Services (SIS) development and support.
  • Proficient in using common IDEs such as Visual Studio, VS Code, and PyCharm.
  • Experience with PowerShell for database and system administration.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git/GitHub, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities for projects and incident responses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Python, Alteryx, or other toolsets for data access.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Scrum, and Kanban.
