About the position

The Sr. Data Architect at CDK Global will play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, and optimizing the data platform to support the company's strategic initiatives in the automotive retail industry. This position requires a hands-on approach to provide technical leadership, ensuring the data architecture meets both current and future business needs while maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance. The role emphasizes collaboration with various stakeholders to develop scalable and efficient data solutions that enhance customer experience and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and architect effective solutions across various use cases.
• Design, build, implement, and optimize the data platform, ensuring data integrity and efficient processing.
• Create curated data models for data consumers to address current and future business questions.
• Work with product organizations to develop fit-for-purpose data architecture for different use cases.
• Ensure architecture supports the deployability and serviceability of data and API products.
• Champion data security and compliance with data protection regulations.
• Lead the migration of existing in-house data platforms to the cloud with minimal disruption.
• Collaborate with the Data Governance team to develop strategies for Master Data Management (MDM).
• Leverage automation to streamline data operations and accommodate growing data volumes.
• Monitor and optimize data quality, freshness, security, and overall system health.
• Troubleshoot issues with distributed systems and cloud technology layers.
• Define and maintain best practices for building and leveraging the data platform.
• Participate in peer reviews to improve code quality and reduce technical debt.
• Embrace operational excellence and a DevSecOps culture.
• Research and recommend efficient solutions for complex problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience as a Data Architect with 8+ years relevant to responsibilities listed.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, cloud-native solutions, and data-intensive applications.
• 6+ years of experience ensuring data quality and proactive monitoring of enterprise-grade solutions.
• Expertise in data technologies such as relational databases, cloud data lakes/warehouses, and data pipelining.
• Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and experience designing scalable data models.
• Programming skills in Python, with experience in data processing and automation.
• Expertise in advanced analytical SQL and PL/SQL tuning.
• Experience with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
