About the position

The Sr. Data Engineer for Contact Forecasting at Amazon is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting key datasets that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information. This role involves collaboration with various teams to produce complete data solutions, driving architecture and technology choices, and developing new big data technologies to solve business problems. The position aims to improve the efficiency and quality of customer service through accurate forecasting and data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support key datasets for actionable business information.
• Collaborate with analysts, research scientists, and engineers to produce complete data solutions.
• Drive architecture and technology choices for user experience enhancement.
• Develop new big data technologies to solve business problems.
• Encourage adoption of next-generation data architecture strategies.
• Improve reporting and analysis processes, automating self-service support.
• Develop technical strategy for turning data into actionable information.
• Optimize performance of business-critical queries and manage ETL job-related issues.

Requirements

• 7+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Java, Scala, NodeJS).
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
• Experience operating large data warehouses.
