About the position

The Sr. Data Engineer for Customer Experience at Amazon will play a crucial role in building and maintaining end-to-end data and analytics solutions that enhance the customer experience. This position involves collaborating with various teams to design and implement data pipelines, optimize data processing, and drive the architecture choices that support a world-class user experience. The role is focused on solving complex business and technical problems, ensuring timely access to actionable business information, and continuously improving reporting and analysis processes.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end data pipelines to ingest and transform data from various sources and systems.
• Utilize data from disparate sources to create meaningful datasets for analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases.
• Evaluate and implement big-data technologies and solutions to optimize processing of large datasets.
• Analyze business processes and logical data models, and implement relational database solutions.
• Write high-performing and optimized SQL queries.
• Execute research projects and generate practical results and recommendations.
• Design and implement automated data processing solutions and data quality controls.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• Experience with SQL
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS)
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices
• Bachelor's degree

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
• Experience operating large data warehouses
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle
