About the position

The Sr. Data Engineer position at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data models, and data warehousing solutions. Responsibilities

  • Conduct data discovery and profiling for various data sources.
  • Design and implement robust ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data.
  • Develop and maintain efficient data ingestion processes.
  • Design and develop effective data models and schemas for various data sources.
  • Implement and maintain a centralized data warehouse architecture.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into optimized data structures.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
  • Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Continuously monitor data quality and implement remediation measures.
  • Design and implement centralized data integration pipelines.
  • Ensure seamless data integration and interoperability between different systems.
  • Integrate propensity models with downstream systems and processes.
  • Implement robust data security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Ensure data lineage and traceability across the organization.
  • Continuously monitor data flows and optimize performance.
  • Develop and implement data retention and archiving policies.
  • Establish data disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience with SQL

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
  • Experience operating large data warehouses
  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
