About the position

The Sr. Data Engineer role in the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging team at Amazon focuses on leveraging data engineering to enhance robotic material handling products. This position involves designing and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure, developing ETL pipelines, and collaborating with various teams to ensure efficient data access and utilization. The role is pivotal in shaping data architecture and improving decision-making processes within the organization, ultimately impacting customer experiences globally.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure to support the storage, processing, and analysis of large data sets, ensuring security and scalability.
• Develop ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and store structured and unstructured data from various sources into AWS data stores such as S3, Redshift, and other internal Amazon platforms.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business intelligence teams to understand data needs and provide accessible, reliable data pipelines and solutions.
• Automate data processes and workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, Glue for efficient data handling and processing.
• Improve and raise the bar on proactive data quality monitoring and alarming (e.g., anomaly detection) across big data pipelines.
• Define the future of MSP Solutions data architecture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
• Experience with SQL
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
• Experience operating large data warehouses.
