About the position

The Sr. Data Engineer is responsible for developing and programming IT solutions using Python to enhance Customer Experience applications. This role involves documentation, unit testing, peer code reviews, and maintenance of applications, while ensuring IT controls are in place to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The position requires a strong focus on working with large datasets and a willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program IT solutions using Python for Customer Experience applications.
• Document systems and conduct unit tests and peer code reviews.
• Maintain internally developed applications and evaluate purchased products.
• Implement IT controls to protect application and data integrity.
• Work with large datasets, ensuring effective data analysis and processing.
• Develop REST APIs and process batch files using Python.
• Schedule batch processes and evaluate various libraries for technical requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related work experience in technical design and coding in the IT industry.
• Experience with UNIX or Linux shell scripting.
• Advanced SQL scripting and querying skills.
• Working knowledge of PySpark and Hadoop environments.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Excellent understanding of RESTful architecture and Python programming.
• Experience with unit testing, release procedures, and change management.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in various domains such as Health Care or Financial.
• Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
• Development experience using Ab Initio.
• ELT and data warehouse experience.
