About the position

The Krusteaz Company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our enterprise data strategy. This role is pivotal in the design, delivery, and management of our enterprise data solutions, reporting directly to the Director of Enterprise Applications and Data Management. As a key contributor to our digital transformation, the Senior Data Engineer will take the lead in designing data structures, ingestion processes, and reporting standards for the organization, collaborating closely with IT development, infrastructure, and analyst teams. In this senior position, the Data Engineer will be instrumental in promoting agility, scalability, and operational excellence within the IT team. This role will also contribute significantly to our business transformation efforts, working alongside IT Business Analysts to understand the challenges faced by our business partners and developing scalable, repeatable data solutions to address their needs. The Senior Data Engineer will serve as a trusted partner to peers within the IT team, providing both conceptual and technical mentorship. Key responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing our data warehouse and analytics environment, designing and implementing stable, secure, and scalable data engineering solutions and pipelines, and building reports and data visualizations using data from various sources. The role also involves producing scalable code to automate repetitive data management tasks, implementing best-in-class security measures, and providing input on the IT technology roadmap to ensure appropriate investments in technology solutions. Additionally, the Senior Data Engineer will define and document best practices and strategies while staying informed about industry trends and technologies that could benefit The Krusteaz Company.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and build on our data warehouse and analytics environment.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain stable, secure, and scalable data engineering solutions and pipelines.
  • Build reports and data visualizations, using data from the data warehouse and other sources.
  • Produce scalable, replicable code and engineering solutions that help automate repetitive data management tasks.
  • Implement and monitor best in class security measures in our data warehouse and analytics environment.
  • Provide direct input on the IT technology roadmap, helping ensure we make appropriate investments in build vs. buy decisions.
  • Define and document best practices and strategies.
  • Keep apprised of trends, identifies best-in-class capabilities, opportunities and technology that may benefit The Krusteaz Company.
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development and infrastructure teams to build EDW and development competencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or progressive relevant work experience.
  • 8+ years of development experience required.
  • 5+ years' experience working with public cloud providers (Azure, Oracle Cloud, etc.).
  • 5+ years' experience in data pipeline development, including languages such as Python and R, and tools such as Airflow and SSIS.
  • 5+ years Data Warehousing and ETL experience, preferably with large transactional datasets.
  • Familiarity working in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Direct experience working with both traditional and agile methodologies required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience within the manufacturing industry, including knowledge in supply chain, procurement, and logistics is preferred but not required.
