About the position

The Senior Data Governance Analyst at Columbia Sportswear plays a crucial role in enhancing the company's data governance framework. This position is part of the Insights & Enablement team and focuses on maintaining global data definitions, data cataloging, and ensuring data quality across various applications. The analyst will collaborate with different business units to align data standards and practices, ultimately supporting the company's vision for effective data governance. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work across the organization to drive data governance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support and drive the maturity and execution of Data Governance strategy and framework.
  • Facilitate the creation of enterprise Data Governance policies, processes, standards, and roles across all data systems and projects.
  • Execute key Data Governance processes including defining and aligning business terms and KPIs, critical data asset identification, data cataloging, metadata management, and data quality metrics.
  • Create and maintain visible scorecards, dashboards, and metrics to align direction and progress toward data consistency and reliable sources of truth.
  • Provide transparency to user communities regarding data issues, questions, concerns, and remediation status.
  • Facilitate and collaborate in the documentation of data lineage and guide in data classification.
  • Own Data Governance for assigned strategic projects and collaborate with business and technical partners to achieve project goals.
  • Maintain and update the CSC data catalog, making information available in a centralized, searchable inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience with strong competency in relevant tools and systems.
  • Experience defining and implementing Data Governance models based on industry best practices preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in all phases of the data lifecycle.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Functional understanding of data architecture concepts.
  • Project Management and group facilitation skills.
  • Intermediate understanding of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Exposure to wholesale and/or retail solutions preferred.
  • Experience with Data Catalogs, business glossaries, data governance, and metadata management preferred.

  • Experience with data governance tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance standards.
