About the position

The Senior Data Scientist role at Apple focuses on leveraging statistical methods and data analysis to influence product design and decision-making within the Engineering teams. This position is integral to the Data Science team in the Apple Services Engineering organization, where the candidate will work with big data, conduct AB tests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance customer experience across various Apple services.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with engineering, product, and machine learning teams.
• Improve quality of experimentation planning, design, and analysis.
• Use advanced techniques to address statistical challenges and accelerate testing.
• Translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Explore, validate, standardize, and automate pipelines for KPI reporting.
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis to develop customer and product knowledge.
• Present and communicate complex analytical concepts to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Master of Science degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field.
• Extensive background in statistical experimentation methods, including AB testing and experimental design.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and text data analysis.
• Proficiency in SQL, Spark, Python, R, or Scala.
• Deep understanding of data science toolkits like pandas, NumPy, and dplyr.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, GGplot, matplotlib, and seaborn.
• Great communication skills to explain findings to decision makers.

Nice-to-haves

• PhD is preferred.
• Knowledge of Bayesian methods, multi-armed bandit, multivariate testing, and causal inference.
• Proven track record of collaboration in cross-functional environments.
• Statistical modeling and Machine Learning experience.
