About the position

As a Senior Data Scientist in the Search and Browse team at Target, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the digital experience by developing and implementing machine learning models and natural language processing techniques. This position involves collaborating with business partners to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment, designing scalable data science systems, and utilizing cutting-edge algorithms to improve Target's search capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business partners to identify and solve business problems using data science solutions.
• Design and implement scalable data science systems and services.
• Architect data science solutions that process and analyze large datasets in the retail industry.
• Utilize machine learning algorithms and NLP techniques to enhance mobile and web search systems.
• Perform data exploration and analysis, including anomaly detection and visualization.
• Implement algorithmic solutions while adhering to best practices in model development.
• Develop maintainable and well-documented code in approved programming languages.

Requirements

• 4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
• PhD or MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience implementing machine learning models and algorithms into production at scale.
• Demonstrated experience in Search Indexing, Retrieval, Ranking or Query Understanding.
• Proficient in Python or Java with advanced coding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience querying large databases with SQL, HQL or similar variations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for global collaboration.

Nice-to-haves
