About the position

As a Senior Data Scientist in the Search and Browse team at Target, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning and natural language processing to enhance Target's digital experience. This role involves designing and implementing scalable data science solutions that address business challenges, while collaborating with various teams to drive innovation and improve search functionalities across mobile and web platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable data science systems and services.
• Collaborate with business partners to provide solutions for business problems.
• Architect data science solutions that process and mine large datasets.
• Utilize machine learning algorithms and NLP techniques to enhance search systems.
• Perform data exploration and analysis, including anomaly detection and visualization.
• Develop maintainable and tested codebases with relevant documentation.
• Stay updated on advancements in search, query understanding, ML, and NLP.

Requirements

• 4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines or equivalent experience.
• PhD or MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• Research or industry experience in Information Retrieval, Query Understanding, Machine Learning, and NLP.
• Demonstrated experience in Search Indexing, Retrieval, Ranking, or Query Understanding.
• 3+ years of experience implementing Machine Learning models in production.
• Proficient in Python or Java with advanced coding skills.
• Experience querying large databases with SQL or HQL.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
