Gilbane is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Information Technology Team. Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to gather deep understanding of business problems and develop predictive models to predict outcomes.
  • Leverage the model development process to identify critical drivers of predicted outcomes and guide business to take action on these insights.
  • Data mine various data systems, clean and structure data to optimize model performance and identify areas for data quality improvements in the enterprise data environment.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and BI teams to put models and insights into production.
  • Develop causal inference / explanatory path models to help business understand drivers of key outcomes.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure understanding of models and implement business process change to improve outcomes based on model output.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in statistics, data science, economics, psychology (research/experimental), or other heavily quantitative social or other science (biometrics) is required; PhD is desired.
  • Deep knowledge of statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining, and feature engineering is essential.
  • Strong skills in SQL and Python or R are required.
  • Excellent communication and consultative approach, along with PowerPoint and presentation skills, are necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the construction industry or related fields is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is preferred.
