About the position

As a Senior Data Scientist at Visa, you will play a pivotal role in building and validating predictive models using advanced machine learning techniques and tools, including deep neural networks. Your primary objective will be to drive business value through the interpretation and presentation of modeling and analytical results to a non-technical audience. You will be responsible for writing and testing complex predictive model software packages for production deployment, supporting model installations, and monitoring and calibrating production models to ensure optimal performance. In this role, you will define financial and analytic metrics to measure development and production outcomes, producing visualizations and reports for internal business customers. You will propel analytical product development by conducting statistical analyses on various data sources, adding value to product development through innovative applications of analysis results. Additionally, you will conduct transaction data analyses using Hadoop, Spark, and other big data tools for both internal and external product owners, developing deeper insights into products through advanced statistical and machine learning methods. This position is hybrid, allowing you to alternate between remote work and office presence. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week, determined by leadership, with a general expectation of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language.
  • Proficiency in Python data analysis, model building, and visualization libraries.
  • Proficiency with SQL (e.g. Hive, Impala).
  • Experience with production model development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Experience in deep artificial neural networks (e.g. RNN, CNN, natural language processing, or graph database analytics).
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools like Tableau.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Excellent business writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of experience with Big Data tools (e.g. Hive, Impala, Spark).
  • Experience with Spark and MLlib is a plus.
  • Experience with script and shell programming is a plus.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new techniques.
  • Must be a team player and capable of collaboration with cross-functional teams.
