About the position

CVS Pharmacy, Inc., a CVS Health company, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team in Woonsocket, RI. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing analytics applications and models that transform data into meaningful insights. The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for designing and developing data solutions using industry-leading tools, technologies, and best practices. This includes profiling data and developing efficient ingestion processes by sourcing data from various business units such as Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), Specialty, Retail, and HealthCare. The successful candidate will develop advanced algorithms and statistical predictive models to evaluate different scenarios, predict outcomes, and provide actionable information on health metrics and potential future outcomes. The role requires expertise in data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and manipulate data from multiple large data sources. The insights generated will inform solutions for in-house teams, including pharmacy pricing, medical costs, risk scores, and customer engagement across critical health journeys. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will utilize data-oriented programming languages and visualization software to explore, analyze, and interpret large volumes of data in various forms, solving complex business problems. The role involves visualizing and interpreting data, creating reports, manipulating data using statistical software, and comparing models using statistical performance metrics. The candidate will also support the deployment of insights across multiple channels using various analysis methods, machine learning, and statistical analyses. Telecommuting options are available for this position, and multiple openings exist.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement analytics applications and models to transform data into meaningful information.
  • Design and develop data solutions using industry-leading tools and best practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computational Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Hadoop and Hive.
  • Two (2) years of experience in R, Python, or SQL.
  • Two (2) years of experience with "Big data" platforms including Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Two (2) years of experience analyzing large data sets from multiple data sources.
  • Two (2) years of experience in statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Two (2) years of experience in SAS or SQL programming languages.
  • Two (2) years of experience with traditional relational data warehouse technologies: Oracle, Teradata, or DB2.
  • Two (2) years of experience with visualization tools, including PowerBI and Tableau.
