About the position

The Senior Data Visualization Consultant at Consumers Energy plays a crucial role in revolutionizing the financial operations of the Controller's organization. This position focuses on creating and building reports and visual management tools using existing data sources, with the aim of reducing operational effort by 30% by 2030 through strategic streamlining and automation of processes. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of insights and reports that enhance productivity and accuracy in financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Create automation solutions utilizing MS tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Maintain quality of visual management by identifying issues and making updates as needed.
  • Create and disseminate reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material, including occasional speaking or meetings with stakeholders.
  • Create reports on program performance against metrics and targets.
  • Gather and form reporting requirements, learn subject matter, and extract and transform data and reports.
  • Manage projects, applying skills such as reporting and visual development, analysis, planning, design, research, budget monitoring, coordination, facilitation, and communication with customers.
  • Partner with stakeholders, including Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Architects, and IT, to support the integration of data from multiple internal and external sources for reporting.
  • Use computer-assisted applications, software, and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents.
  • Utilize data from multiple sources (SQL databases, Excel files, flat files, etc.) into integrated views.
  • Add value to stakeholders by providing observations and insights based on data analysis.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in data analytics, finance, business, or related field with four (4) or more years of applicable experience.
  • High School Diploma with six (6) or more years of applicable experience.
  • Proficiency in SQL, MS tools including Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query.
  • Experience analyzing data and building reports using MS tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, or Power Query.
  • Knowledge of primary data management languages such as SQL, Python, etc.
  • Ability to connect to a variety of data sources proficiently using the queried data in Power BI.
  • Apply data quality assurance practices in the development of data models and resulting output.
