About the position

The Sr. Database Admin at Community Health Plan of Washington is responsible for the administration and maintenance of SQL Server, Snowflake, and Azure Data Lake Storage platforms. This role supports day-to-day operations and projects by ensuring optimal database performance, security management, and user access. The position requires a strong understanding of database environments and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization's data management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain Snowflake and SQL Server environments for optimal performance and availability.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and report metrics on assigned databases.
  • Identify and apply industry best practices for performance and security management of databases.
  • Provision user roles, accounts, upgrades, and security settings; perform regular user account audits.
  • Monitor database performance, storage, and credit usage on Azure SQL, Snowflake, and ADLS.
  • Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex database issues; recommend and implement corrective solutions.
  • Participate in defining and implementing group standards and processes for database administration services.
  • Recommend, plan, and implement database user access and security strategies based on company policies.
  • Contribute expertise to ensure database applications operate efficiently and meet business data needs.
  • Organize and perform all assigned database requests to support data management and IT operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, health information management, or management information systems; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Snowflake and Azure environment administration.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in SQL Server administration, configuration, and tools.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare or managed care organization data management.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a data steward working with business data producers and consumers.
  • Experience administering cloud database management systems such as Oracle, Redshift, or GCP.
  • Experience developing data management and administration requirements and supporting documentation.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum software development methodology preferred.

Nice-to-haves
