About the position

The Sr. Database Administrator - AWS automation role focuses on creating and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and stable database solutions. The position involves collaborating with various teams to identify use cases, leading data solution aspects, and ensuring effective automation processes for AWS Cloud-based products. The role also includes troubleshooting, mentoring team members, and ensuring compliance with data standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining high performance, scalable, and stable database solutions.
  • Working with customers, deployment squads, and product management to identify and document use case scenarios.
  • Leading on all data solution aspects including setting data standards and providing technical expertise to development teams.
  • Designing databases solutions that are highly available and meet disaster recovery requirements.
  • Designing effective data store solutions that account for capacity planning, data tiering, and data life-cycle management.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated systems for AWS Cloud-based products and services.
  • Troubleshooting issues with automations and ensuring efficient solutions.
  • Collaborating with team members for effective and efficient automations.
  • Evaluating existing automation processes and identifying areas of improvement.
  • Monitoring and validating performance and functionality of automated processes.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for automated processes and ensuring knowledge transfer.
  • Mentoring team members on new technologies and automation processes.
  • Working with QA to create detailed test plans and tooling for production volume data performance.
  • Ensuring successful delivery of solutions, training, and documentation internally and with customers.
  • Recommending solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
  • Participating in code reviews and creating documentation for engineering and cross-functional practices.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end technical and business viability.
  • Learning new database technologies as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience with AWS automation and database management.
  • Strong knowledge of database design and architecture.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and troubleshooting databases.
  • Experience with data analysis and database management tools.
  • Ability to provide technical support and manage database access control.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with compliance and security auditing in database environments.
  • Knowledge of heterogeneous database interface deployment.
