About the position

The Senior Database Administrator will join the S&P Enterprise Data Management Team to support a global Database Administration team. This role focuses on managing and tuning multi-terabyte database systems to facilitate the ingestion, management, processing, and distribution of various data types including trade, operational, risk, financial, and customer data. The position requires expertise in MSSQL and familiarity with AWS RDS, along with a strong emphasis on disaster recovery and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Support, administer, manage, and tune multi-terabyte database systems.
• Administer MSSQL database including installation, configuration, performance tuning, HA, and security.
• Implement disaster recovery plans using Always On, Clustering, Log-shipping, Mirroring, and Replication.
• Perform database maintenance tasks such as updating statistics, rebuilding indexes, and defragmenting tables.
• Optimize queries and tune performance using SQL Profiler, Execution Plan, and Performance Monitor.
• Monitor database performance using tools like Performance Insights, Fog Light, and CloudWatch.
• Work in rotational shifts including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• University degree, preferably in engineering or equivalent.
• 8-10 years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server.
• Good knowledge of AWS and familiarity with Postgres.
• Strong analytical and presentation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize activities.
