About the position

The Senior Database Administrator role is a critical position responsible for providing comprehensive database support for business applications within a leading Airlines organization. This position involves managing database performance, security, and compliance, while also ensuring high availability and disaster recovery of database systems. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement effective database solutions and automations, as well as mentoring team members on new technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provides database support for business applications and schedules backup jobs for user databases.
  • Provides access control (password resets/account creation/deletion) and checks IP compliance.
  • Performs data purging and data replication activities.
  • Researches connectivity issues and recurring errors in Application database.
  • Responds to database alerts and takes appropriate actions.
  • Provides escalation Level 1 and 2 Technical 24x7 support.
  • Performs database creations and application database maintenance.
  • Performs performance tuning and troubleshooting for databases.
  • Manages database account access and database object changes.
  • Ensures monitoring and alerts are properly in place to meet requirements.
  • Performs application database and OS scripting.
  • Reviews Information Protection compliance reports and notifications.
  • Performs database recovery from logs, hot & cold backups, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Plans, schedules, and implements operating system software installs and patches.
  • Implements database security and auditing features and conducts periodic reviews.
  • Conducts root cause analysis for repeated incidents.
  • Performs heterogeneous database interface deployment and support.
  • Develops capacity planning processes and monitors existing database activities.
  • Conducts team training and is responsible for resource management.
  • Researches new technologies to address operations reliability and compliance.

Requirements

  • Experience in creating and maintaining high performance, scalable, and stable database solutions.
  • Ability to lead on all data solution aspects including setting data standards and providing technical expertise.
  • Experience in designing databases that are highly available and meet disaster recovery requirements.
  • Proficiency in designing effective data store solutions for capacity planning and data life-cycle management.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining automated systems for AWS Cloud-based products and services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with automations and ensure efficient solutions.
  • Experience in collaborating with team members for effective automations.
  • Ability to monitor and validate performance and functionality of automated processes.
