The Database Services team at Maxar plays a crucial role in this mission by providing highly integrated and value-added consulting services. We collaborate closely with our internal platform groups to focus on data design, database administration, and management, operating a sophisticated commercial earth-imaging satellite constellation. This enables us to maintain the largest database of high-resolution imagery in the world, managing massive scale storage and processing to provide effective imagery solutions. In the role of Sr. Database Administrator, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platforms for our ground systems platform/application teams. Your work will involve managing multiple versions of databases, planning and coordinating database administration tasks, and establishing security integrity controls. You will translate logical designs into physical implementations, develop comprehensive database architectures, and assist in defining database standards, policies, and procedures. Additionally, you will create and manage large-scale, highly available production database environments, handle data loading, security, capacity planning, and backup and recovery processes. You will also be responsible for optimizing SQL performance and resolving issues related to poorly performing queries and stored procedures. Strong scripting skills in languages such as Shell, Ruby, Perl, Bash, Puppet, Salt, and Python are essential for this role, as is the ability to support 24x7 production operations.
