About the position

The Senior Database Analyst at the University of Miami is responsible for analyzing data from various databases and developing reports related to scheduling and utilization. This full-time position involves leading projects, serving as a liaison to internal units and external vendors, and ensuring the integrity and security of database systems.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design, development, implementation, and support of database systems using current database tools and technologies.
• Ensures proper definition, control, and coordination of data elements and standards.
• Facilitates efficient data relationships, systems integration, and physical structure.
• Participates in the development and implementation of database management policies and standards.
• Designs and operates client-server database performance monitoring software.
• Utilizes hardware, software, and manual procedures to verify the integrity of database systems.
• Ensures efficient implementation and modification of database systems.
• Develops and carries out project plans, including schedules and budgets.
• Reports variances from project plans and budgets with suggested corrective actions.
• Leads in the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries to improve organizational data integrity.
• Develops and administers policies and controls for data security and integrity.
• Provides protection against unauthorized access and supports security and confidentiality requirements.
• Serves as lead technical resource to user community and other divisions in database design, development, and administration.
• Maintains knowledge of current products, database management and programming techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
