About the position

The Sr. Database Architect at CGI Federal is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a cloud and/or container-based database architecture to support the operational needs of federal applications. This role is crucial for ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and performance optimization across various intelligence and defense applications. The position allows for a hybrid working model and requires a TS/SCI clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, performant, and secure database solutions aligned with client mission requirements.
  • Collaborate with application developers, solution architects, and ISSOs to integrate data polyglots with other applications.
  • Conduct technical research and analysis to identify advantageous database solutions.
  • Integrate database architectures with government-specified technologies including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Build and manage NoSQL database solutions such as MongoDB and Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Ensure compatibility of developed capabilities with the network operating environment.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for multiple intelligence domains.
  • Collaborate with ISSO to manage and update ATO documentation and processes.
  • Provide Tier 2 and 3 help desk support as defined by the government.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of relevant database experience.
  • Strong understanding of SQL fundamentals and advanced SQL concepts.
  • Familiarity with database modeling tools like Cameo, ER/Studio, or ERWin.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
  • Experience with managed cloud database services like Amazon RDS.
  • Understanding of data security and privacy regulations.
  • Experience with database programming languages including SQL and NoSQL.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with database migration, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DISA STIGs guidance.
