About the position

The Sr. Database Architect/Sr. Programmer Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing complex data processing systems to support business requirements. This role involves evaluating current workflows, managing outsourced development resources, and improving data architecture for reporting and efficiency. The position requires strong programming skills, particularly in RPG and IBM iSeries, and the ability to collaborate with various departments to meet their computerization needs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current system workflow processes and identify areas for improved automation.
  • Assist the Sr. Manager, IT Applications in managing outsourced development resources.
  • Manage, architect, and design programming for main systems interacting with external 3rd party systems.
  • Lead, design, and recommend programming designs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage and monitor data integrations from iSeries and between various applications.
  • Improve data architecture for reporting through target database design and program development.
  • Confer with user departments to identify computerization needs and develop new systems or modifications.
  • Review and analyze system specifications to ensure all required elements are included.
  • Consult with clients to gather information about program needs and requirements.
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, and system interfaces.
  • Use programming languages to code computer instructions from systems documentation.
  • Test and debug computer programs, modifying existing programs as necessary.
  • Advise user departments on specific problems or changes in programs and applications.
  • Train personnel in procedures for data entry into terminals.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for program development and changes.
  • Monitor program performance post-implementation and provide user training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with database design management and code development in RPG.
  • Experience programming on the IBM (Iseries, AS/400).
  • Experience in securing access to IBMi through security protocols.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Administration and programming (stored procedures, triggers, views).

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience in Python, JSON, XML, Rest API.
  • Preferred experience in ERP Infor LX, BPICs.
