About the position

The Database Architect will manage the company's database architecture and enhance the delivery of database infrastructure services across private and public cloud environments. This role involves collaborating with various architectural organizations globally to define standards, improve existing implementations, and drive the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) transformation journey. The position requires close collaboration with the VP/CTO of Corporate Infrastructure and the Global Corporate IT organization, with potential travel of up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Build a well-informed database services strategy and manage the adaptation process to deliver cloud-based services.
• Research and recommend new database technologies, platforms, and tools to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Create and implement the overall structure and design of database systems to meet current and future business needs, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
• Forecast future data storage needs, optimize database performance by tuning queries, indexes, and database configurations, and address performance bottlenecks.
• Design and implement strategies to ensure database systems remain available in the event of hardware or software failures, natural disasters, or cyberattacks.
• Establish processes to ensure adherence to architectural standards, controls, policies, and procedures working with various business units, Infosec organization, and stakeholders.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, design, and configurations, and establish and enforce database standards and best practices.
• Evaluate, plan, and guide on data migration projects, transferring data between different databases or systems, and ensure data integration between various applications.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years' experience in designing, developing, configuring, and implementing enterprise database solutions with diverse solutions from multiple vendors on a large enterprise and global scale.
• 3+ years' experience working on various Automation platforms like Terraform/Ansible/ARM Templates delivering Infrastructure as Code and automating management & operations.
• 5+ years' experience delivering active Cloud technologies and services hosted in Azure and AWS.
• Ability to multi-task, meet project-specific deadlines, work in a team, and produce results independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Deep expertise with major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, understanding their database services, networking, and security features.
• Mastery of both relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases, including cloud-native and managed options.
• Familiarity with specialized databases optimized for AI/ML (e.g., graph databases, vector databases).
• Hands-on experience with designing and deploying cloud database technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure SQL Services, AWS RDS, Cosmos DB, and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and data pipeline design, particularly within cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) to understand data requirements and optimize data storage.
• Proficiency with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate the deployment and management of cloud database infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Deployment methodologies and hands-on experience with various CI/CD pipelines like Git Actions / Azure DevOps / Jenkins / Harness.
• Practical knowledge of APM, monitoring, and logging at scale.
• Experience working in a strategic advisory role to senior IT and business leaders.

Benefits

• Base salary range of $175,000 - $220,500/year, incentive eligible.
• Total individual compensation includes base salary, short & long-term incentives based on various factors.
