The Senior Database Developer position at TekSynap involves supporting the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) in managing the nation's offshore energy, minerals, and natural resources on the Federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). This role is critical in promoting safety, protecting the environment, and conserving resources through rigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing comprehensive database schemas, which include tables, views, indexes, triggers, stored procedures, functions, and other essential objects. The role requires crafting efficient and optimized SQL queries, generating insightful reports, and seamlessly integrating data across various systems and applications. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Senior Database Developer will work closely with end users and administrators to understand their data needs, proactively optimize database performance, and uphold data quality standards. Continuous monitoring and optimization of database performance through query tuning, index optimization, and resource management will be essential to ensure optimal efficiency and responsiveness. The developer will also implement and enforce data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and authentication, to safeguard sensitive information and maintain compliance with relevant regulations. In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Database Developer will create and maintain data models that accurately represent the organization's data structure and relationships, guiding database design decisions. Documentation of database architecture, configurations, and processes is crucial for knowledge transfer within the team. The role also involves developing and maintaining Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure data consistency and quality, performing capacity planning for future data growth, and planning for scaling the database infrastructure accordingly. The developer will diagnose and resolve database-related issues, provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, and participate in the design, implementation, integration, management, and maintenance of complex databases.
