About the position

The Sr. Demand Planner at Newell Brands is responsible for developing and maintaining a 24-month unit forecast at the item level for specific accounts and categories. This role focuses on enhancing forecast accuracy, minimizing bias, and optimizing inventory levels while meeting financial objectives and customer service expectations. The position requires managing relationships both internally and externally to ensure customer needs are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a 24-month rolling unit forecast at the item level using current forecasting methodologies.
  • Assemble and analyze demand plans by driving the monthly planning cycle with market information and statistical forecasts.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of statistical algorithms and adjust parameters to achieve WFA targets while balancing attainment and service levels.
  • Establish proficiency in APO/IBP Demand Planning software and interpret results from operational support software like Power BI and Forecast Metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to identify risks and opportunities to achieve planning objectives.
  • Work with Supply Chain representatives to identify supply gaps and propose solutions to minimize out of stock issues.
  • Manage the outlier process and work with Sales to identify opportunities or risks to the forecast.
  • Identify solutions for the disposition of unproductive inventory.
  • Anticipate potential supply chain issues and communicate with Sales to develop corrective actions.
  • Provide visibility to weekly orders versus forecast and assess potential mix issues.
  • Support annual planning and bridge processes through standardized spreadsheets and identify opportunities and risks.
  • Support the 5-step S&OP process by developing a comprehensive monthly forecast review meeting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or Operations.
  • 3+ years' experience in demand planning, supply planning, buying, or a related field.
  • Proven business management experience in a matrix organization and working with varying levels of leadership.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex and analytical conclusions simply and succinctly.
  • Experience in data analytics.
  • Excellent PC skills with an emphasis on advanced planning systems and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • SAP experience is a plus.
