The Sr. Demand Planner at Newell Brands plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining a rolling 24-month unit forecast at the item level for specific accounts and categories. This position utilizes current forecasting methodologies to enhance forecast accuracy, minimize bias, and optimize inventory levels while ensuring that financial objectives and customer service levels are met. The planner is expected to manage both internal and external relationships effectively, knowing when to escalate concerns to management or leverage corporate resources to meet customer needs and maximize organizational objectives. In the realm of Demand Planning and Operations, the Sr. Demand Planner is responsible for creating a data-driven perspective on point-of-sale (POS) expectations, inventory levels, and competitive marketplace dynamics. This involves assembling and analyzing demand plans by driving the monthly planning cycle, utilizing market information, and statistical forecasts. Collaboration with Sales, Finance, and Operations is essential to gather necessary customer and product information. The planner will also evaluate the effectiveness of statistical algorithms, adjusting parameters to achieve targets while ensuring minimal impact across customers. The role requires proficiency in APO/IBP Demand Planning software and the ability to interpret results from various internal operational support software, including Power BI and Forecast Metrics. The planner will work closely with team members to proactively identify risks and opportunities related to planning achievement and collaborate with Supply Chain representatives to address supply gaps, minimizing out-of-stock situations. In terms of Reporting, Communication, and Planning, the Sr. Demand Planner anticipates potential supply chain issues, communicates these to Sales, and develops corrective actions. They provide visibility into weekly orders versus forecasts and assess potential mix issues that could impact future forecasts. The planner supports annual planning processes by preparing standardized spreadsheets and identifying opportunities and risks, as well as new product expectations. They also play a key role in the 5-step S&OP process by leading comprehensive monthly forecast review meetings that incorporate various performance metrics and their impact on the forecast.
