About the position

The Sr. Design Engineer - Paint Innovation at Harley-Davidson is a senior-level role focused on developing and delivering innovative paint and graphics solutions for motorcycles. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the visual appeal of Harley-Davidson products, collaborating with internal teams and exploring external advancements to create a comprehensive new product innovation plan.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating internally with Design Studio and Product Planning teams to identify project opportunities and their value proposition.
• Looking externally for new looks and technological advancements to bring back for assessment.
• Developing a multi-year roadmap which plots project delivery while also supporting internal and external manufacturing strategies.
• Integrating paint projects into the broader innovation and advanced development team.
• Assigning design engineers advanced development projects and managing progress up through sampling and manufacturing trials.
• Providing direct input into the motorcycle product life cycle plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in innovation and advanced delivery development.
• Experience in delivering or supporting new product development.
• Ability to interface with CMF (Color, Materials, Finishes) industrial designers.
• Experience in the design of component coatings (liquid industrial paint, inorganic finishes, PVD, etc.).
• Knowledge of manufacturing delivery of parts with coatings.
• Experience in manufacturing paint shop automation.
