The Sr. Design Engineer - Paint Innovation at Harley-Davidson is a senior-level role focused on developing and delivering innovative paint and graphics solutions for motorcycles. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the visual appeal of Harley-Davidson products by collaborating with internal teams and exploring external advancements in design and technology. The engineer will create a multi-year roadmap for project delivery, manage advanced development projects, and contribute to the motorcycle product life cycle plan.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with Design Studio and Product Planning teams to identify project opportunities and their value proposition.
• Researching external trends for new looks and technological advancements.
• Developing a multi-year roadmap for project delivery aligned with manufacturing strategies.
• Integrating paint projects into the broader innovation and advanced development team.
• Assigning advanced development projects to design engineers and managing their progress through sampling and manufacturing trials.
• Contributing directly to the motorcycle product life cycle plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in innovation and advanced delivery development.
• Experience in new product development and interfacing with CMF (Color, Materials, Finishes) industrial designers.
• Knowledge in the design of component coatings including liquid industrial paint and inorganic finishes.
• Experience with manufacturing delivery of parts with coatings and paint shop automation.
