About the position

The Senior Media Product Designer at McGraw Hill is responsible for implementing the media design vision and strategy for the K-12 division, focusing on creating engaging educational products for the Literacy portfolio. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate product goals into actionable steps, ensuring the delivery of high-quality media assets that enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product goals into actionable steps for the team and communicate how work relates to the overall product vision.
  • Develop visually engaging, effective, and user-friendly media from concept through final delivery.
  • Work with cross-functional product development teams to concept, design, research, acquire, track, and seek approval for all media assets including illustration, photo, video, sound, and animation.
  • Articulate rationale for media choices to cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings and conversations with internal teams, vendors, and cross-functional peers.
  • Proactively identify risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Manage external media vendors and monitor project status.
  • Guide work to ensure media assets meet expectations for quality, data capture, scalability, alignment to media strategy, budget, and schedule.
  • Develop guidelines for media development that align with product strategy and goals for both internal and external vendors.
  • Communicate, train, and mentor others on guidelines and expectations.
  • Seek innovative and cost-saving ways to fulfill asset needs by reviewing specs and strategizing media objectives.
  • Advocate for the user throughout product development.

Requirements

  • BA, BFA, or formal design degree in art, film, audio, video, motion graphics, photography, design, or related field.
  • 3+ years' work experience with art buying, media research and acquisition, media development, and project management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Jira, and Lucid is a plus, along with an understanding of accessibility guidelines.
