About the position

Ascend Learning is seeking a Senior Desktop Support Engineer to join our team in Leawood, KS. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, both remotely and on-site. The position requires a deep understanding of various technology platforms, as well as the ability to deploy hardware and software solutions effectively. You will manage end-user technology projects and ensure that all technical issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be interacting with users to resolve their issues and provide support. The role also requires flexibility to work outside of regular business hours when necessary. As a Senior Desktop Support Engineer, you will handle complex technical issues that require advanced expertise. You will provide third-level support for escalated issues and troubleshoot application problems that go beyond standard desktop support. Your responsibilities will include creating and managing Active Directory accounts, performing minor hardware repairs for both Windows and Apple equipment, and coordinating repairs covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements. You will also diagnose and resolve end-user network issues, printer problems, and hardware malfunctions, ensuring that users have seamless access to their technology. In addition to resolving technical issues, you will deliver, set up, and assist in the configuration of end-user desktop hardware, software, and peripherals. You will provide one-on-one problem resolution for remote personnel and lead or contribute to IT projects, such as system migrations and major upgrades, with a focus on our Endpoint Security Program. Your role will be critical in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving tier one through three problems for users, ensuring that all solutions are communicated effectively to end-users.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex technical issues that require deep expertise.
  • Provide third-level support for escalated issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues that go beyond standard desktop support.
  • Close all tickets within the stated SLA and OLA's.
  • Create Active Directory accounts, modify existing accounts and deactivate accounts.
  • Perform minor desktop hardware repair for Windows and Apple equipment and peripherals that are not covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Coordinate timely repair of PC computer equipment covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Diagnose and resolve end-user network or local printer problems, Windows and Apple hardware problems, e-mail, internet, local-area network access problems and wireless network issues.
  • Deliver, set up and assist in the configuration of end-user Windows and Apple desktop hardware, software and peripherals.
  • Provide one-on-one end-user problem resolution over the phone or via desktop sharing software for remote personnel.
  • Lead or contribute to IT projects, such as system migrations, rollouts, or major upgrades with a focus on our Endpoint Security Program.
  • Identify, diagnose and resolve tier one through three problems for users of the network, personal computer software and hardware, internet, new computer technology and communicate solutions to end-users.

Requirements

  • 3+ years providing Deskside/Phone Support for current Windows and Apple hardware and applications.
  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) or equivalent certifications.
  • College level degree in computer related technologies preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • Mobile device troubleshooting and basic setup experience.
  • Software management with installing, upgrading and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Intune, and Kandji.
