The Database Services team at Maxar plays a crucial role in this mission by providing highly integrated and value-added consulting services. We collaborate closely with our internal platform groups on data design, database administration, and management, operating a sophisticated commercial earth-imaging satellite constellation. This enables us to maintain the largest database of high-resolution imagery in the world, managing massive scale storage and processing to provide effective imagery solutions. In the role of Sr. DevOps DBA, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platforms for our ground systems platform/application teams. This position involves a high degree of automation and requires you to support commercial, GovCloud, and secure environments across multiple clouds and on-premises. You will work with core databases including Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server, and MySQL, ensuring their optimal performance and security. Your responsibilities will also include patching and upgrading database servers, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, and conducting security and license audits for database software. As part of a 7x24 operational environment, you will participate in an on-call rotation to address any incidents that arise. Your work will involve planning, coordinating, and administering various database matters, including defining structures, documenting processes, and establishing operational guidelines. You will also be tasked with translating logical designs into physical implementations, developing comprehensive database architectures, and creating large-scale, highly available production database environments. Additionally, you will be responsible for data loading, security, capacity planning, and backup and recovery processes, all while supporting production databases in a dynamic environment. Your expertise will be crucial in solving SQL performance issues and optimizing queries and stored procedures, ensuring the highest quality of service in our production operations.
