About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer at O.C. Tanner plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of the technology that supports employee recognition platforms. This position involves managing CI/CD pipelines, enhancing cloud-based systems on AWS, and providing operational support to cross-functional teams. The engineer will leverage expertise in various technologies to build and maintain scalable systems, ensuring smooth deployment and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for secure software deployment.
  • Manage and improve cloud infrastructure using AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CDK.
  • Build and maintain containerized environments with Kubernetes for scalability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and tools in Golang, Typescript, and Java for infrastructure management.
  • Integrate and optimize logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions to improve system observability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues in collaboration with development teams.
  • Maintain and enhance security, availability, and performance of production systems.
  • Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure best practices in deployment and system architecture.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps or related engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and strong knowledge of GitHub Actions.
  • Strong expertise with AWS cloud services and AWS CDK for infrastructure automation.
  • Proficiency in Golang and Typescript for writing scripts and automation.
  • Experience with Kubernetes for managing containerized workloads.
  • Solid understanding of observability tools and techniques (e.g., logging, monitoring, alerting).
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for complex infrastructure and application issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any AWS or CKA certifications
  • Proficiency with Data Technologies (Postgres, Elasticsearch)
  • Experience with ActiveMQ and Kafka
