About the position

The DevSecOps Engineer Senior at Horizontal Talent will play a crucial role in the design, development, and administration of developer tools across multiple environments. This position is integral to a team focused on realizing the architecture for products such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) platforms, Git infrastructure, and centralized developer solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of Linux system administration, troubleshooting, user account maintenance, and IT system security standards. This role requires a proactive approach to system maintenance, including auditing logs, patching and upgrading software, managing backups, and overseeing password and certificate rotations. The candidate will also be responsible for user account management and ensuring compliance with IT security standards. In addition to system maintenance, the DevSecOps Engineer will interface with internal customers, security teams, and management to maintain production systems and resolve issues with services and physical systems. The role involves working with various software development lifecycle concepts, including the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), DevOps practices, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD). The engineer will install, maintain, and support multiple Windows and Linux-based servers on both physical and virtual platforms, contributing to program initiatives and supporting engineering applications such as JAMA, Syndia, Tasktop, and Materials Based System Engineering (MBSE). The position also requires support for VMWare Tanzu environments, including Kubernetes, GitLab, Artifactory, Vault, Grafana, and Ansible. The engineer will be responsible for supporting DevSecOps tools, including Atlassian Tools, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps, and will assist in the deployment of new instances, enhancements, and upgrades of these applications within multiple classified environments. Regular in-person engagement is required, with the expectation of working on-site three or more days each week. The role demands the establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships within the department and across the company, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with internal customers, security, and management teams for maintaining production systems and resolving issues with services and physical systems.
  • Perform system maintenance tasks such as auditing logs, patching/upgrading software, backups, password/certificate rotations, and user account management.
  • Work with software development lifecycle concepts including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), DevOps, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD).
  • Install, maintain, and support multiple Windows and Linux-based servers on physical and virtual platforms in support of program initiatives.
  • Support engineering applications, including JAMA, Syndia, Tasktop, and Materials Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Support VMWare Tanzu environments, including Kubernetes, GitLab, Artifactory, Vault, and Grafana.
  • Support DevSecOps tools, including Atlassian Tools, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
  • Assist in the deployment of new instances, enhancements, and upgrades of applications inside multiple classified environments.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and across the company.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • A current, active or ability to obtain a TS/SCI CI Polygraph clearance is required.
  • DoD 8570 compliance is required.
  • Excellent documentation skills and organization skills.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills (OS, Applications, Network, etc).
  • Customer service oriented with excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and be self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Linux servers, scripting, and support (Ansible).
  • Experience with specialized network environments (air gapped, limited access).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and cloud-based technologies (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with VMWare technologies (vSphere ESXI, vCenter, vRealize Operations Manager, Tanzu, NSX).
  • Experience with AWS services (KMS, VPC, LBs, IAM Roles, Firewall, Security Groups, S3, EC2, SQS, SNS, ElastiCache, Workspaces, RDS).
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Kubernetes, Gitlab, Fortify).

  • Competitive hourly pay range of $62.98/hr - $79.57/hr based on market pay structures and individual qualifications.
