About the position

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and support of complex on-premise and cloud-based software solutions. As a technology specialist at Blue Cross NC, you will innovate and collaborate to create impactful solutions that enhance health care delivery. Your work will involve high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and performance to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform the analysis, design, and development of high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems.
• Write well-designed, testable, efficient code to support varied and complex IT solutions.
• Provide strong technical expertise and collaborate with other IT specialists to rapidly develop and deliver solutions that meet changing business needs.
• Perform necessary discovery and fact-finding to understand complex business problems and opportunities, executing all assignments independently.
• Evaluate options and make buy vs. build recommendations to management when requested.
• Analyze and recommend solutions to development and production issues, effectively communicating with the project team, vendors, and management in a timely manner.
• Research and stay abreast of technology trends and IT best practices, focusing on continuous learning and application to the business.
• Provide direction and assistance to less experienced team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
• 5+ years of experience in a related field; in lieu of a degree, 7+ years of experience is acceptable.
• Experience in Java-J2EE-EJB, WebSphere/Liberty Application Server, Eclipse/IntelliJ/VS Code, FACETS, SQL: Oracle/Db2/SQL Server, GIT/GITHUB.
• Experience in cloud application development, specifically REST services, and familiarity with Docker, Jenkins, AWS, OpenShift 4.s, and Micro Services frameworks such as MicroProfile / Spring Boot.
