About the position

The Sr. Director of Tech Project Management at DIRECTV is responsible for establishing and overseeing the IT Program and Project Management Practice within the IT Organization. This role focuses on developing a robust framework to align and optimize IT initiatives, aiming to reduce cycle times and increase success rates. The leader will enhance project management capabilities, standardize methodologies, and foster an agile work environment to drive innovation and operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement a comprehensive IT Program and Project Management Practice that supports projects of all scales within the DIRECTV IT Organization.
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance project delivery efficiency, leveraging best-in-class methodologies and tools.
  • Lead the transformation of company-wide initiatives, such as Save to Invest (S2I) and Marketplace, utilizing advanced agile program management techniques.
  • Establish and maintain a center of excellence for project management, ensuring all team members possess requisite certifications and skills.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project team effectiveness through strategic skill set management and ongoing professional development.
  • Align and optimize resource allocation across the IT project portfolio to maximize organizational impact and efficiency.
  • Implement standardized processes and tools to enhance project visibility, reporting, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure IT projects align with broader business objectives and strategies.
  • Plan and organize Program and Project information to drive organizational alignment and transparency.
  • Execute IT and Business projects to deliver Programs and Projects.
  • Develop and refine project flow of operation and execution through: Business ideation, Product Solutioning, Delivery and Post program launch support.
  • Manage Asana and Jira Resources - Intake through Delivery and Reporting.
  • Build and own TVMO PMO Operational cadence and Communication Process.
  • Develop and Lead IT and DIRECTV Leadership Governance for all Programs and Projects.
  • Operationalize effective governance models and processes for the Program Management team to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop operational cadence for Governance information.
  • Develop communication and reporting structure and output for IT programs through all intervals.
  • Develop Criteria and sizing for IT PPM Practice team.
  • Identify appropriate skills to support IT and Business Project managers.
  • Maintain PM Organizational effectiveness through Training and Development.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a successful tech project management leader in a fast-moving business.
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement through education, leadership position(s), and other significant achievements.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Self-directed, results-oriented individual who can independently handle multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical - makes data-driven decisions while establishing effective metrics that drive results and optimize on technology stack.
  • Intellectually Agile - able to think deeply and qualitatively about strategy and vision.
